Why Do You Write for Hubpages?

Why Do You Write?

At some point and time you will ask yourself this question. Why do you write on Hubpages? I am wondering that myself tonight as I celebrate my six month anniversary and my 20,000 page views. Why did I join the hubpages community and start out on writing? And why have I stayed so long?

Honestly, it was to gather my thoughts and my self together after my Mother’s sudden death which was extremely traumatizing to me. As I have expressed before during her death and afterwards my memory was shot. I had to do everything by lists. I never needed lists before my Mother’s passing. Honestly in college if I heard it in class I could remember it for the test. I just had to pay attention.

Why I Shouldn’t Write?

And perhaps I should tell you the reason I shouldn’t be writing on hubpages. First I am a horrific speller. Second I have dyslexia which means I type things backwards and read them forwards. Third English grammar is abstract to me and I don’t completely understand it. Fourth I confuse homonyms frequently like write and right. And there are even more reasons I should never ever try to write professionally. And still yet I am hear doing what I should never do and exposing all my weakness to all of you instead of doing really fantastic Math problems which I am good at.

Maybe I write because I believe I should strength me weakness even if that means humbling myself in front of my entire Hubpages community. And I have had some really humbling moments in front of all of you with my editing errors. But I am making marginal progress. I am getting better slowly but surely. And I never give up.

But I also write because there is something deep inside me that tells me I must write. It is as much apart of me as Math or my oil painting but not as much apart of me as my son. For him I love the most. Poetry is quickly becoming a very fun outlet for me as well though. And I never knew it before. I mean I had read poems but no one explained them to me. My and my son’s course on poetry this month has been quite enlightening.

The contest has also allowed me to dabble back into fictional writing which I absolutely adore. I could spend my life writing fictional books and not waste a minute but I also have to be very practical as I do have a child.

So Why Do I Write and Specifically for Hubpages?

Because I believe it will lead to something else and until then I will keep honing my writing skills. The pen is still mightier then the sword and that tickles me to no end.
