The Secret Lives of Hubbers

So what is a hubber? Quite simply it is a person who writes for Hubpages. We are an international lot and we completely agree on to civilly disagree. We are generous to a fault and a bit of introverts. Our work on hubpages is as about as extrovert as writers get. You know the saying writing about life instead of living it. But that isn’t the rule on Hubpages. There are many people who lead fascinating extraordinary lives either traveling or right from their living room. It is all in how they view the world. For the hubber who is an artist he/she is haring their specific artistic view of the world. They see things differently then most people. And that is why they wish to share their view. In may ways the hub represents a treasure chest to the hubber of his/her most valuable thoughts. ideas and expressions. It is a place where they go to retreat of the demand of the day and to reflect in a world that doesn’t allow anyone time to reflect.

And writing is their meditation on their lives or on things going on around them. And when the commune with their friends on hubpages they exchange ideas, recipes and even jokes. There is a culture inside hubpages and then many subcultures that go beyond that. But in general and please don’t comment about a bad critic we all have them and once and a while we are them. In general, it is a place to hone one’s writing talents while networking within this community.

Would You Recognize a Hubber on the Street?

No you probably would not. I personally have told very few people I am even doing this. I think maybe three people know in my life outside of my hubpages family. Hubbers come from all walks of life all with one purpose to write and share. A few of us even have big heads but I will not mention any names. But we are not one nationality are one thought but a group dynamic which is constantly ebbing and flowing like the tides.

How Can You Tell It Is a Hubber?

They can hand out criticism but they can’t take it well. We are all a sensitive lot. It is the nature of a writer. As it isn’t a curse enough to see the world in a different way then everyone else we take offense when our views are challenged. But that is not true of everyone either. I have challenged a few people and they have taken it very well. I follow them religiously. I am certain that if they can take criticism so well I have a lot to learn from them. But when I first started I used to get pretty upset with the comments. It was like a hazing so to speak. But instead of quitting which I never do anyways it made me more determined then ever to continue to work.

What is A Hubber’s Goal?

To be read is the first goal. They also would like to receive accolades but that comes with time and they eventually would like to make a little money. I have yet to meet a hubber who thought they were going to make millions from hubbing although I have read articles where people claim to be pulling in $1600 USD a month. That is nothing to sneeze at.

And even a few hubbers would like to be discovered. And there are many many talented people involved with Hubpages. So the competition is friendly but fierce in attempting to stand out as a writer.

The Secret Lives of Hubbers

We do read as much of each others work as possible so we get an idea of the standard of writing and given American English and England English are different languages there is a bit of a language divide.

We try to leave supportive messages to our friends, new writers or really well written articles. We secretly want to be discovered and to receive all the accolades but what is second best to our own personal success is one of our fellow hubber’s success. We live vicariously through them.

For most of use our computers are pretty shot from hubbing so much. We are computer junkies and most of us but not all have blogs and other websites as well as work on HP.

We are god natured and have good sense of humors even when our friends poke fun at us.

But most of all we are interconnected to each other around the world in every race, religion, gender, educational background and socio-economic status.
