Terra Nova: Now Your See Me

The Shannon Family travels 85 million years into the past to repopulate the Earth during the Jurassic age to paradise. Jim Shannon, a former cop who was serving a prison term for break population laws fathering his third child Zoey, escapes from prison to sneak Zoey and himself back through the portal with his wife Dr. Elizabeth Shannon, his eldest son Josh, and his middle child daughter Maddy. Upon arriving at Terra Nova Jim faces off with a charismatic leader Taylor who is more legend then leader.

The Shannon’s adjust reasonably well with the exception of Josh who is determined to do whatever he is required to get his girlfriend through on the next pilgrimage. This causes a great deal of conflict.

And Taylor is lesson charismatic and savior as much as he is power hungry and paranoid. He maintains such a tight grip on power and has Jim so roped in that Terra Nova seems like a cult. But it is rather a police state with such tight security run on the Terra Nova.

In the last show we discovered that the future sent a general to replace Taylor and he killed him in self defense. And Taylor had a son who came through on one of the pilgrimages. Taylor’s son, Lucas, is working on solving the equation to open the portal both ways so the future can come and steal the resources of the past. Taylor is willing to kill in order to protect Terra Nova and Jim is well aware of Taylor’s secrets ad he has sworn to protect their paradise.

While Taylor checks his son’s progress he is captured by Mira. We find out Mira was an ex convict with a sick child in the future that needed medicine to keep her child alive. In order to obtain the medicine she agreed to go back and help Lucas open the portal both ways so she could be reunited with her child. The job was only supposed to take six months but Taylor ended up to more challenging then they expected.

There is a spy for the sixers inside the Terra Nova compound. Jim is search for the spy and it seems to be Sky. Most shocking is that we find out the Sky's Mother is alive and being held by the sixers who have the only treatment for her illness. So Sky is being blackmailed into spying for the sixers. As with all reviews I stop writing half way through the show as not to spoil the ending for the fans.

Review

My son is still not as excited about this show as it seems more like an adult drama to him. He would like more dinosaurs and action. The plot line is rather intricate and compelling. One can't help but see that there are people living in the real world which are the sixers versus those living in Terra Nova which are living in a cult. And while Taylor and Mira are enemies they seem to be able to show empathy for each other which makes the characters three dimensional.

I really like this show and it did show a few dinosaurs and a bit of action for my son but you will have to watch it for yourself.
