Sijo: Poetry of Pleasure
Poetry of Pleasure
Sijo: Poetry Pleasure
Why do I write? I don’t know what I am doing.
So I write a Korean musical lyric Sijo poetry.
These foreign poems I write, bring readers great pleasure.
Inspiration:
Of recent I have been studying a great deal of Asian poetry. I have managed the Haiku, Tanka, Ruba’I and now I am on the Sijo. As previously reported I have had difficulty moving between Asian poetry and French poetry. Now that I am more familiar with Asian poetry, I having a difficult time going back to European poetry. But I am certain I will make the transition back. If I had it to do over again, I would have study all European forms of poetry as a unit and then study Asian poetry separately. But I am glad I have studied poetry. I recognize I needed to do this in my life to appreciate poetry and to give myself culture.
I am also teaching my son these units as I learn them and while he is ambitious he does not see a need for the future president of the united states, him, to have to learn poetry. As ambitious as he is poetry may not be his preferred subject. But I appreciate that there are mathematics in poetry which I never knew before.
We have a lot of Koreans who live in Florida now. And they are so far from home so I dedicate this poem to them. I welcome them to our culture by learning something about their culture.
