Ringer: Maybe We Can Get a Dog

In what has turned out to be the sleeper hit of the Fall Season Sarah Michelle Gellar really has created a big success with Ringer.

Gellar plays the ever flawed Bridget who is a recovering addict/ prostitute who witnessed a mob murder and is a star witness in a mob trail. She visits what she considers her perfect twin sister, Siobhan, who fakes her own suicide. And as all great tragedies would have it, Bridget assumes Siobhan’s identity to escape her own bad karma. What she fails to anticipate is that her twin sister Siobhan anticipates this move and is setting her up. Twins think a like. Bridget continues to lead Siobhan’s life and realizes rather quickly that Siobhan is less than perfect and has really bad karma of her own.

To start with Siobhan is pregnant and in all probability her best friend's husband, Gemma’s, Henry is the fatherof her unborn child. Her marriage to Andrew has been a farce and there is something amiss with Henry’s business. But Bridget heals Siobhan’s relationship with Andrew and ends her affair with Henry. All the while Siobhan is doing everything she can to expose Bridget and pin everything on her. Bridget plays along and decides Bridget is a convenient scape goat. Both Bridget and Siobhan are blaming Bridget but which sister will leave with Bridget's life and which will leave with Siobhan's is a mystery.

Bridget’s old sponsor and lover Malcolm has been taken a beating from the mob. They have injected him with heroine but Malcolm breaks free and takes a bus to New York to meet up with Bridget. Bridget has already gotten a new sponsor which Siobhan has carefully arranged and he is leading Bridget down many dark paths. Not to mention that Bridget’s new sponsor killed Gemma

As tangled as this web is weaved, it is still great fun and wildly entertaining. Gellar is a hit and so it the rest of the cast. The writing is superb.

The only real question to ask in this series is who will be stuck with being Bridget and why hasn’t Andrew figured out Siobhan isn’t pregnant? But I guess we will have to be patient and watch the story unfold and reveal itself.

Ringer; Maybe We Can Get A Dog Trailer

Review

Tonight it is revealed the Siobhan isn't pregnant. This has a ripple effect on everyone. There are a lot of flashbacks which I am fundamentally against in all television series this Fall but I think the writers are laying ground work for the rest of the season.

Siobhan and Bridget have really done Bridget's fate in so twins have ruined one of the twins fate and both women are fighting for the other's succession.

Henry is upset that Siobhan lost his child.

And the real Siobhan is really manipulating things.

Malcolm is in New York and he is back on drugs. The FBI is still after Bridget but Malcolm will not turn her in even though he is back on drugs.

As irony would have it the real Siobhan Paris lover mets Bridget while impressonating Siobhan.

This show is a wild ride and with two twin sisters only one will have a future. This is wonderful show.

Interview With Cast From Ringer

UPDATE

Sadly this show was cancelled for reasons I am not quite certain. It was an excellent show in that it was well written, the cast performances were phenomenal and the production was extraordinary. If you have an opportunity to see this show, I highly recommend it. Star Trek was also cancelled and it still is thriving to this day.

Personally, I loved this show and would be very interested in any productions by Gellar in the future.
