Nine and A Half Weeks by Elizabeth McNiel

9 1/2 Weeks by Elizabeth McNiel
Elizabeth McNiel ventures into the love story not frequently revealed in the book 9 1/2 Weeks. The book is set in the 1970(s) in which the sexual emancipation was flourishing in New York. It is based on Ms. Niel's life but is a fictional novel.
It begins with with an executive who falls in love with another executive during a street fair in New York. They become intimate immediately and they explore each other greatest passions and desires.. Both of the main characters have thrill seeking adrenaline issues and begin a sadomasochistic relationship which gives them great pleasure and deep personal pain.
And it is very teling they had such a passionate relationship at the onset that burned out so quickly ending just nine and a half weeks after it began.
Review
This book is not for the faint of heart. It dwells deep into sadomasochism and to very dangerous levels. It was a rather radical book for the time it was published as it was a modern day Marde De Sade' tale in which lust is mistaken for love and results in a nervous break down.
And while the book is supposedly based on a true story I would suggest that it is more likely a grand work of fiction n behalf of the author.
It is more like a novella in that it is only about 120 pages long and is a quick read taking about 3 hours for the average person.
If only all of our broken love affairs would result in best sellers....
I do reccomend the book though if you have seemt he Movie 9 1/2 weeks with Mickey rourke and Kim Bassinger. The book provides explanations to scenes which don't really have contexted in the movie. But be preapred to tap into sexual tabboo's if you read either 9 1/2 weeks or you see the movie or both. And also be clear the lines between pleasure and pain and lust and love to be completely blurred.
