Love Leaves Like the Sea

Love Leaves Like the Sea

I met you at the Sea.

You were so beautiful to me.

As the sunset on the beach

You kissed me when in reach.

All day we would fight.

And make love all night.

Quivering tender lovers,

Belonging only to each other.

Let’s not pretend.

We knew it would end.

So many lies,

And yet tears still fill my eyes.

Why is it so hard for it to end?

I’m not just losing a lover but my best friend.

Now I am without you for all the right reasons,

But it is still horrible during the Seasons.

And I return to the shore.

Missing you more and more and more.

But I have to move one.

Because alas you are gone.

Inspiration

A long time ago I had a Summer love with a young man I met at the Beach. It is the perfect place to meet the idea person as you are already half naked. Everyone knows what they are getting into. But as a young person you are never quite prepared for the intensity of adolescents let alone adolescent love. So when you fall in love when you are young you fall hard.

And it is beautiful young love. A love which each teenager believes will last forever. It is first love and therefore pure love which is quite beautiful. But then love and people mature and there is betrayal which will either break a relationship or the love will grow beyond the original definition. But like the beautiful youthful days of Summer at the Beach loves is fleeting. It is escaping and evolving and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. It would be like trying to stop the tides.

Motivation

I had written my last poem for the contest today. I was done but then one of my poems was pulled because of a pixilated image so I decided to resubmit another poem. Also I had it in me the minute I let go of the contest. The minute I stopped asking myself to produce I found I was able to produce more.

But again I had to do it with pen and paper which was is a rather baffling concept to me because I always write everything else directly on the computer. But if that is how I work, I go with it.

The poem is about the intensity of young love lost and how we all long for our first love’s innocence and purity. And how we lose a bit of our innocence when our first love affair is over. Nothing will ever be so pure and simple again in our lives as that one true love in that one moment in time and if only we could capture it and preserve it for all time we could live a thousand yeas happily just in that moment never tiring of it. We would never wish for anything else as it is alike fire burn inside of us all consuming.
