Infantile Autism

Autism is a pervasive disorder that is not well understood and can have devastating impact on families and children if early intervention is not obtained. In this article I will attempt to define the signs and symptoms of infantile autism which is perhaps the least costly and most effective time for intervention. This article simply provides guidelines and a physician or a developmental psychologist should be consulted before any diagnosis is made.

Be that as it may, I had prescribed diets on my article on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder which I strongly recommend parents of children with Autism follow. Autism and ADD/ADHD are inter linked although Science has not proven it. They both have metabolic disorders as the underlying etiologies. I will provide a link at the bottom of this article so you may access the diet I recommended.

Infantile Autism is difficult to recognize to the untrained eye. It is even more difficult to test for so I recommend every parent be vigilant. And again I would like to stress I personally believe there is an underlying metabolic disorder that would first have to be addressed before any behavioral, educational or cognitive therapies would be beneficial.

Signs to look for Infantile Autism

1) Abnormal Social Relationships.

2) Language Disorders

3) Rituals and Compulsive Phenomena (Huge tantrums when schedule is changed!!)

4) Uneven ntellectual Development ie: Walks before crawls. Is able to us electronic devices very you etc...

5) Eating Disorders/GERD This varies from very poor eater to projectile vomiter.

Constellation of Symptoms Continued

All of these Symptoms appear before 30 months of age. But there is a saddness that accompanies this disorder as the children suffer from severe loneliness. They aren't cuddlers if anything they may not wish to be held. They avoid eye contact and are ever so resistant to change. Change usually results in a tantrum of epic portion and finaly ther is a pseeh and language disorder.

If your child or a child you know has a constellation of these symptoms please have them evaluated for infantile autism so they can receive the earliest possible medical intervention and educational intervention to minimize the effect this disorder has on their life.

I have included the link to my hub on ADHD and there is a diet I recommend ot all parents of child with autism. it is not a gluten free diet but it puts weigh on children who are failing to thrive.
