Homemade Holiday Egg Nog for Your Celebrations
Homemade Holiday Egg Nog for Your Celebrations
With the Holidays right around the corners or more accurately right upon you, you need as much help as possible squaring everything away with minimal effort. So if you are a male hubber you can make this for your wife and surprise her or if you are the woman of the house and are entertaining this is a quick easy recipe to provide the very calming and rich homemade egg nog for the holidays. The recipe calls for Bourbon and if I lived in a cooler climate and was single I might put the Bourbon in the Egg Nog but I don’t. So for the purposes of this hub I will leave it out and allow you to decide if you want to add it to your egg nog.
Homemade Egg Nog
4 egg yolks
1/3 cup of sugar
1 pt. whole milk
1 cup of heavy cream
1 teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg. I prefer cinnamon.
Beat egg yolks until light in color. Gradually add a 1/3 cup of sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add milk, cream and nutmeg (or in my case cinnamon)and add a bit of bourbon if you so choose.
Whip egg whites until they have peaks and add 1 tablespoon of sugar
Then fold the egg whites into the egg yolks and refrigerate.
There is always a slight danger eating raw egg white so I encourage you to buy fresh grade A or AA eggs which are not damaged in any way to prepare this egg nog and minimize the likelihood you get sick from bad eggs.
MAKES 6-7 CUPS.
I am including a recipe link from which I obtain this recipe without cinnamon.

Another Recipe
I wanted to provide you with a video demonstrating another recipe for egg nog. I am well aware it differs from the first recipe but it is also just as delicious. At least you will be provided with two recipes to choose from.

In Conclusion
The recipe takes 15 minutes to prepare and it is a nice finishing touch on the Holidays. If you decide not to use bourbon which I don’t you can substitute vanilla. Between the Vanilla and the cinnamon it is absolutely divine holiday treat.
