How to Fix Your Car with A Mountain Dew Soda
Fixing Your Car with A Mountain Dew Soda
My neighbor pounded on my door and he was in visible distress. He announced his car was broken. This is my lovely friend who attended Yale. I told him to pop the hood. He announced he had already called a tow truck.
I insisted he pop the hood just the same. I asked him to attempt to start the car. He did. The car would not turn over so to speak. I checked the battery. Upon visual inspection I saw that the leads to the car battery were corroded. The leads were so corroded that they could not carry the electric charge from the battery to the starter. For normal people that would have been a problem but for me it seemed simple enough to fix.
My neighbor returned with a screwdriver and was prepared to manually remove the corrosion. I told him that it wouldn’t be necessary and he could injury himself. Shortly there after the tow truck showed up and declared the car broken and it must be towed.
I told my neighbor to allow me to pour my mountain dew on the battery lead that was corroded. I did and as I pour the soda over the lead the corrosion melted away. My Ivy League neighbor was so impressed. He declared my alma matter worthy of the ivy League. I told him it was really no big deal. I then used jumper cables and jumped his car. And then it was fine.
The tow truck man was very angry as he felt I was interfering with his paycheck and quite frankly I was.
My friend laughed so heartily as he could have never imaged you could fix a car with a soda pop. I did tell him to have the lead replaced but it wasn’t the emergency he had thought it was at all. We laughed. I told him that it was little tricks like fixing cars with soda pops that kept me in good standing with the Ivy League.
My point is we have everything we need all around us. We just need to reach out and ask each other for help and be generous enough to give it when it is requested. It was such a wonderful experience for both of us and it saved my friend so much money.
And quite literally I fixed his car with a Mountain Dew. Who would have ever imagined?
