Rita and her husband as Lenny’s medical proxy decide Lenny should have surgery. Lenny has an arterial malformation right under his fracture. Michael asks about an advance directive and Rita and her husband lie to Michael because they were desperate to save Lenny. Lenny’s Father finds Lenny’s advanced directive amongst Rita’s things and gives it to Michael Holt. Dr. Holt decides to honor Lenny’s advanced directive is necessary. Lenny has a serious reaction to the anesthesia.

Michael and Anna discuss the trauma of his childhood. And he is quite comfortable speaking with his ghostly wife.

And a homeless man by the name of Dennis Jones passes out on a bus and is brought into the clinic. They find out he has a do not resuscitate order or DNR. Dennis Jones has an estranged daughter which he doesn’t get along with and he is diagnosed wit Lung cancer, His daughter Kelly came down to the clinic to save her Father. Dennis has a condition which is easily treatable but he needs his family to go on. Dennis cancels his DNR order.

Michael attends a Thanksgiving dinner at the free clinic with his sister. It would seem Dr. Holt and healing old wounds.

Review

This show is improving a great deal and is really quit touching. But it also has morals to it like having an advanced directive which everyone living should have. Mind you advanced directives sometimes get thrown out the door IRL especially when a family disagrees with the advanced directive but it is always good to have one.

I have noticed that the more healing Michael Holt does in his own personal life the less he sees of his ghostly wife. So the question begs to be asked is she in Michael’s life to have him finish her affairs or is Michael the one thing she needed to fix before she could rest in peace. It is a very interesting show. And I predict it will do well as it not only is a medical drama but it deals with, in a tasteful way, social issues which are inextricably intertwined with poor health. For the doctor who never only wishes to treat the medical side of anyone human being they are only treating a third of the problem. When a person is ill their mind, body and soul all need to be mended. And the fact that this show even understands that makes it one of the most incredible and compelling medical dramas I have ever watched.
