15 Minute Holiday Appetizers
Holidays are on you and your are stressed and weary. You have to entertain but you have a bunch of presents hidden all over the house that need to be wrapped and you could really use a nice nap. But you have to make appetizers for the a cocktail party at your home and you are on a budget and have limited time.
All of these recipes take 15 minutes or less to prepare. Cooking time is a bit longer and clean varies depending if you have a dish washer or not.
Spinach Dip
Make a breadbasket out of a fresh loaf of round bread,
Mix
1- 16 ounce sour cream
2- Package of defrosted spinach which has had most of the moisture removed from it.
3- Can of thinly sliced water chestnuts
4- 1 ½ tablespoons of fresh dill.
5- Salt to taste
6- 1- Chopped Onion (I put it through the food processor)
7- Pepper to taste,
Place dip into the hollowed out bread and serve with either the bread pieces of with crackers at room temperature.
Bacon, Waterchesnuts and Liver Wraps.
While these don’t sound fancy they are always a big hit at any holiday party.
Ingredients
1-lb calf’s liver (It is optional if you don’t like liver leave it out or do half your batch with liver and the other half without liver.).
1-can of water chestnuts
I-lb of bacon
1-box of toothpicks.
Preparation
Cut liver into about ¾ inch size bit pieces.
Add a water chestnut
Wrap with bacon and secure with a tooth pick
Bake on 375 degrees on a cookie sheet until the bacon is crisp. I put parchment paper on the cookie sheet to limit clean up time. Serve warm. Cooking times vary depending on the oven so approximately 15-20 minutes.
Baked Gouda in a Cresent Roll
This is so simple you are going to laugh.
Ingredients
By Gouda in wax at local market and please remember to remove wax.
Buy crescent rolls in a can at the local market. Pillsbury comes to mind but I am certain there are many brands.
Preparation
Take the wax off the Gouda and wrap it in the crescent roll dough completely covering it. Bake according to the crescent roll directions and serve warm with apple slices.
Roquefort Cheese Dip
When you read this recipe you will understand why my cholesterol was high. But it is delicious and good.
Ingredients
8 oz of Roquefort Cheese You can use blue cheese if Roquefort is unavailable.
16 oz of cream cheese softened
A dash of Worcestershire Sauce.
Mix all the ingredients and serve in crackers. I prefer stone cracker but any crackers will really do.

Four very different appetizers which you can prepare in 15 minutes or less to make your holidays lovely and stress free. And who knows you may even be able to get that nap in before you have to entertain with these very simple but elegant appetizers.
